The Redwood Biome! with Spotlight
ARK Patch 243 brings forth many changes: The Island, as it has come to be known to its inhabitants, has undergone a new makeover, with the addition of the Redwood Forest and the extension of the Snow biome!
Littered throughout the Redwood and Snow biome are new Ruins, which will later contain collectable story notes about the history of the ARK.
Take refuge among the Redwood trees with new Wood and Metal Tree Platforms! Live like a Furry Forest Creature in these massive trees! Tap into the massive redwoods to extract their sap for healthy concoctions using the new Tree Sap Taps. Reach new heights with the Retractable Rope Ladders. Extend or retract these flimsy ladders, which are good for letting allies onto your ramparts while keeping the enemy out. There is a whole new way of life to explore!#

- Biome Update: Snow Extension & New Redwood Forests (this is a major environmental overhaul!)
- Magnfiying Glass now displays creature Torpor stats (on Wild creatures too).
- Tamed Dinos that are following a submerged allied Target will not attempt to float to the surface of the water, but rather will attempt to stay at the depth of their allied Target. (helpful when deliberately going deep-diving your tamed land Dinos). However, Dinos that are capable of suffocating will try to surface if they are out of Oxygen regardless!
- Tamed & Wild Gigas Damage reduced by 50%, Wild Giga HP reduced by 40%, Tamed Giga Run Speed reduced by 30%, Tamed Giga HP reduced by 25%, Giga Stamina Increased by 30%. Tamed Gigas now require/consume 50% less food for subsistence.
- Tamed Ptero Damage reduced by 30%
- Added two additional levels to gain, for Players and Dinos
Fixes & Improvements
- GroundClutter effect extended 50% further and +20% more GPU efficiency
- Approximate +5% GPU performance improvement related to more efficient foliage culling
- Approximate +10% Server CPU gains related to more network multi-threading
- Balled Doed‘s are no longer invincible to Tamed Dino melee attacks — now just very, very resistant to them.
- Tribe Alliances now disabled in Offline Raid mode (too complex to determine if anyone in an Alliance is around), C4/Traps can no longer be placed near Offline-Raid Protected Structures, and Offline-Raid mode now forces all Structures to be Lockable so that players can “Lock” Crop Plots to prevent their turrets from being disabled.
- Engagement with Wild Naturally-Fleeing & Small creatures (tiny bugs etc) no longer trigger combat music
- Vaults can no longer be dropped onto saddle platforms
- Transfer-All/Drop-All methods now only drop/transfer what is currently disabled in the inventory, respecting any filters/folders you may have active (so for example, if you’re within a folder, it will only transfer those items, or if you have a text filter active, etc).
- Fixed an issue where pillars were not being calculated correctly as foundations when building pillars downwards
- Massive +33% rendering gains with any translucent rendering (particles, greenhouse windows, etc). Yay for eliminating unnecessary SceneColor resolves!
- Fixed a rare PhysX crash that would bring down servers on occasion. Seemingly free of any more PhysX-crashes now!
- Fixed bug where Wild Giganotosaurus and other dinos would not respawn properly until the server was relaunched.
Server Stuff
- New Server Option: “?PreventTribeAlliances=true” to prevent tribe alliances
- Game.INI values to scale the the 5 kinds of XP earned: Generic (automatic over time), Crafting, Harvesting, Killing, and SpecialEvents: “KillXPMultiplier”,”HarvestXPMultiplier”,”CraftXPMultiplier”,”GenericXPMultiplier”,”SpecialXPMultiplier” (all 1.0 by default)
- Server Note: To allow your Server’s Titanosaurs to be permanently tamed (namely allow them to be Fed), launch your server with this commandline option: ?AllowRaidDinoFeeding=true
However, note that TheIsland currently only spawns 3 Titanosaurs whatsoever, so 3 Tamed ones would ultimately block any more Wild ones from spawning. - Note for Unofficial Servers: If you wish to destroy structures within the new Biomes, you can launch your servers with this commandline parameter (that’s a dash, not a question mark — put this at the end of your server commandline 😉

ARK Mod: Primitive+
The second official mod, Primitive+, will launch directly within ARK: Survival Evolved on Thursday, July 28 for both PC and Xbox One players!
Primitive+ explores the idea of what life may be like with common-day knowledge and resources provided by the land. It incorporates primitive tools and techniques that are still being used by indigenous tribes around the world today!
Players are challenged to use primarily wood and stone without the benefit of advanced metals. A whole new set of items and detailed new mechanics focus the player on ‘primitive’ survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK. Primitive+ will be playable as a functionality mod on all official ARK maps.
The mod will include:
- Over 100 primitive-themed structures
- 3 ancient building tiers (adobe, lumber, brick & cement)
- Diverse resource system – live off the land with 40 different resources
- Primitive trapping system (deadfall trap / fishing traps)
- Advanced farming – 10 historic crops and resources (Wheat, Barley, Coffee, Tea, etc)
- 11 iconic weapons (Flintlock pistol, Musket, Viking Axe, Battleaxe, etc)
- 60 types of food recipes to craft
- Enhanced role-playing experience (market stalls for trading, meals, etc)

ARK Total Conversion Mod – ARK: Primal Survival – Official Trailer
On the E3 the new Total Conversion Mod – ARK: Primal Survival was shown and now here is the Youtube-Video.
ARK: Primal Survival is an upcoming Total Conversion where survivors will be able to play, live, and breed as any of the ARK’s creatures! Survivors will experience full survival mechanics and lifecycles, including mating, growing, recruiting more creatures to your ‘pack,’ even constructing primitive dens.
Playing Primal Survival, which will launch later this year on PC and Xbox One as an Official Total Conversion, will allow survivors to experience:
- Live life as a Raptor, communicate and coordinate tactical attacks on other species.
- Spend your nights creepily crawling around the caves as the Araneo, catching your victims with your web spinning ability and spraying them paralyzing venom, while laying eggs to expand your brood!
- Work together as one to execute strategic attacks alongside your pack to chase and takedown prey! Train and protect your young through the harsh winters so that they are ready to join the hunt by the time they are full grown adults.
- Cuddle up with your cubs and forget about your worries and your strife whilst you spend the day fishing, wandering and roaming the land with your sleuth.
- Experience the ARK through the eyes of a Titanomyrma, building a thriving colony centered around ‘ant hills’, and survive against the elements and the dangers that the island brings!
- Furthermore the new functionality associated with this Primal Survival mode will also enable mod creators to build much more intricate mods involving playing as these various creatures and detailing their lifecycles & survival mechanics, with new capabilities for creating asymmetric gameplay modes. ;)!
