Dino Dossier Manta

Common Name: Manta
Species: Manta Mobula
Time: Early Oligocene - Holocene
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Defensive
Domestication
Tameable: Yes
Rideable: Yes
Saddle: No

  • Wild: Here is another example of a creature that seems to have evolved beyond its historical traits. Everything points to this being a saltwater ray, but Manta Mobula has developed the ability to swim into the island´s rivers and shallows, as well as through the open ocean. Perhaps there were originally two types of ray on the island before, but years of interbreeding combined their lineage.

  • Domesticated: While not the fastest swimmer around the island, Manta Mobula is the deadliest of small ocean mounts, and can be ridden bare-back. Tribes who value striking power over speed often keep large schools of Manta to ride. Its capability to briefly leap out of water provides it a showy tactic for avoiding combat as well. A quick jab through the heart onto an unsuspecting survivor can easily take them by surprise. Thusly, many tribes use it as an escort for their slower cargo-carrying swimmers.

  • Known Information: Normally docile, the Manta Mobula is a cranivore only in that it consumes Plankton. Its tail is incredibly sharp, and can pierce through thick hide and armor with ease. Fortunately, Manta Mobula is usually not aggressive, unless encouraged.

ARK: Survival Evolved Patch 211 & 212 & 212.1

New

  • Added a [ServerSettings] server option “?PerPlatformMaxStructuresMultiplier=1.0” that can be used to increase the limit of structures on dynamic platforms. Beware, increasing this value could affect server performance!

Changes

  • Structures placed on dynamic platforms (Saddle/Raft) no longer have a “Max Height Above World” limit (i.e. allows building on Rafts over deep sea).
  • Switching to direct UDP socket connections rather than Steam P2P for significantly increased server network performance and stability!
  • Page-Scrolled Chatbox will now stay scrolled even if new chat messages arrive

Fixes

  • Fixed issue with Flyers potentially disappearing/sinking into water
  • Fixed various Raft exploits…
  • Fixed shouldered Monkey scaling issue
  • Fixed swimmers/flyers taking damage when the server gets stalled (during a save, etc)
  • Fixed issue where Flyers couldn’tdrop someone or attack after carrying them
  • Fixed ragdolls possibly falling thru the floor when players die by hitting the ground from a large height
  • Fixed Dino Inverse Kinematics getting bonkerswonky at low Server FPS
  • Fixed the last (hopefully!) issue that could make Shouldered Monkeys disappear

Patch 212

  • Changed network protocol back to “SteamP2P”, which includes automatic port forwarding, until we introduce an option for servers to dynamically optionally use straight UDP protocol (increased network performance).

212.1

Note: Server Admins can change the maximum number of platformed-creatures/rafts allowed on the ARK (a potential performance cost) via this commandline option: “MaxPlatformSaddleStructureLimit=Number” (or in [ServerSettings] of their GameUserSettings.ini)

  •  Fixed -SM4/Extreme Low Memory Mode crashes with Plant Species X / Raft.

ARK: Survival Evolved Patch 210.1 & 210.2 & 210.3

Fixes

210.1

  • Fixed a painting crash
  • Fixed a crash loading certain savegames (“Raptor Animation” crash)

210.2

  • Fixed a case where Raft structures could get loaded rotated ‘incorrectly’. (server-side fix)

210.3

  • Fixed (client-side) Dinos appearing to fall through Structures

Here is the previous Patchnote (210)

ARK: Survival Evolved Patch 210

Fixes

  •  Fixed Dinos getting detached and warped when riding on bronto platform saddles / rafts (i.e. disappearing Dinos), and some visual issues on clients
  • Fixed some bugs with painting (striped tigers, and some dye stacks not getting used), and loading painting templates is now about 10x faster
  • Reduced some network bandwidth usage
  • Fixed scale of structures on Rafts/Dino Platforms.

Here are the previous Patchnotes (209.3 & 209.4)

Dino Dossier: Kairuku

Common Name: Kairuku
Species: Kairuku Waitaki
Time: Late Paleocene
Diet: Piscivorous
Temperament: Friendly
Domestication
Tameable: Yes
Rideable: No
  • Wild: Kairuku Waitaki is an amazingly docile and friendly creature, everything but fish. Honestly, I'm not quite sure how Kairuku manages to stay populated across the island's colder climes, with the many predators stalking these frozen lands.
  • Domesticated: There is no reason to tame Kairuku for combat, since they are useless in a fight. Still, Kairuku are regularly tamed for their cuteness and friendly nature, and the fact that their bodies run extremely hot. Just standing near Kairuku can help keep a survivor warm through long, harsh nights on the icebergs.
  • Known Information: It is weak, and has only one small defensive trait: suspended in Kairuku blubber are small, dense particles that act as a light form or armor. Adding to Kairuku's problems, a clever survivor discovered that refining Kairuku blubber (concentrating the particles in it) can yield a natural form of he same polymer utilized in advanced tribes' manufacturing processes. This has caused many tribes to hunt Kairuku extensively, a practice colloquially known as "Kairu Clubbing".

Drops

ARK: Survival Evolved Patch 209.3 & 209.4

Fixes

  • Client-side Fix for invisible players on ladder
  • Dinos & Players can no longer get pushed/dragge through structures / fall-through when on moving platforms (Rafts/Bronto Saddles etc)
  • Player Data and Tribe Data are automatically backed-up and restored to avoid potential for corruption.
  • You can no longer upload and download Dragons via the Obelisk 😉
  • Raft collision improved (easier to climb up on), and jump rafts fixed
  • Slightly Floating characters on Rafts fixed

New Command

  • Admin “GiveColors #” command (w/o the “cheat” prefix), where # is quantity, to give yourself all color dyes, useful for testing the awesome new painting conversion tools (Link)

Tutorial: Add your own images to a sign, billboard or banner (ARK Paint)

We’re proud to present you our implementation of the ARK Painting Generator. With this tool you can paint your own images on any sign, board or banner.

Usage

Step 1

just open this tool, select which type of image you want to create and upload the image you want to add. Click on “send”.

Maximum file dimensions are: 1920 x 1920 pixel and 3MB

Step 2

Select the part of the image, which you want, or select nothing and continue by pressing “preview”

select

Step 3

If you think think it’s a good choice to print this image, click on download. You’ll receive a .PNT file, which you’ll have to upload to this folder:

Steam/steamapps/common/ARK/ShooterGame/Saved/MyPaintings/

Be aware – wooden billboards and signs have a brown background color – so every image will be darker than expected!

Step 4

Start ARK. Go to a server of your choice (or play in single player). Create a wooden billboard, sign or flag (depending on the type you’ve selected in step 1). Hit it with a brush. In the new opened window – click on “Load Paints From This Type”.

dye1

Now another window will open. If you’ve saved the file correctly you’ll see arksurvivalnet on the left side. Click on it and you see the required colors. If you’ve everything, just apply it and – congratulations – you’ve your own image applied to it

dye2

We’ll add features to limit the colors in a later update in the near future. Until then: stay tuned 🙂
