How to copy/backup savegames

To copy a singleplayer savegame, you’ll have to first of all locate the directory where you have saved ARK. Usually, that’s

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK

However, if you have selected a different Steam Library during installation it might differ. In that case right-click on the game in your Steam Library, go to “Properties”, click on the “Local Files”-tab and click “Browse Local Files”. That will bring you to the folders for your game.

From now on we will assume that ARK points to your ARK-folder. There are three files that you will have to copy over

ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal\TheIsland.ark
ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal\LocalPlayer.arkprofile
ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\LocalProfiles\PlayerLocalData.arkprofile

Put those into the equivalent directories on your other device, and you’re ready to go!

  1. I did this and now I am not considered my original bases owner. All the gates are locked, i can’t demolish or repair anything and had to bash my way back into my base. I can’t even place a new gate where I smashed the other up as I am not allowed to build so close to an enemies base. Is there a fix for this? Help would be appreciated.

    1. Console / Commands: GiveToMe – Changes the owner of the targeted entity (structure or dino) to the current player. However, note that this command does not actually tame dinos – their inventory will not be accessible and they will not be rideable unless they were already tamed by another player or you use one of the dino taming commands afterwards.

    1. These are your save files, they might be on a different location tho, what store did you buy ark on and on what drive did you install it?
